Abstract

The article contains the results of research into the problem of narrative identity in the space of literary studies. The essence of the term "identity" is characterized as identity, a desire for unity between the subject and his self-image, which changes in the process of reinterpreting experience. Varieties of identity are presented, in particular: gender, ethnic, group, political, professional, social, personal, personal, I-identity, narrative, narrative. The main task of the article is the scientific exploration of the problem of the essence, features of narrative identity as a literary phenomenon, thanks to which a person is able to justify and interpret the nature of the expression of personal characteristics in various spheres of life. Through the prism of the concepts "narrative", "narration", "narrator", the nature of narrative identity is outlined, where the narrative reflects the text that reproduces the sequence of perception of reality, the key aspects of the text; narration acts as a person's ability to create the world, life through the creation of stories that the individual organizes, interprets, and reinterprets in accordance with life experience; the narrator plays the role of a subject who is endowed with thinking and language, who is able to penetrate into the consciousness of the heroes of the work, evaluating events and life situations. Narrator types are distinguished: explicit, implicit; diegetic, non-diegetic; primary, secondary, tertiary; strongly or weakly detected; personal, impersonal; integral, scattered; objective, subjective; omnipresent, limited; unreliable, reliable. Narrative identity is defined as the process of forming the internal structure of an individual, which includes the interpretation of information about oneself and others based on reflection, awareness, acceptance of one's own subjective experience in the context of personal culture. The principles of narrative identity are presented, namely: "I tell about myself", "stories integrate life", "stories are told in social interaction", "stories change over time", "stories are cultural texts", "some stories are better than others".
