Abstract
The article analyzes the organization of leisure time in the Third Reich with an indication of gender characteristics. The relevance of leisure research can be seen in the research connection between the support of National Socialist ideas by the citizens of the Third Reich and the quality of leisure organization in the state. The organization “Strength through Joy” became the monopolist in the sphere of leisure organization in the Third Reich. It was found that, in addition to the goal of diverting the attention of the population from more important problems and maintaining the obedience of the population, “Strength through joy” was inextricably linked with the ideas of the “national community”. Having different departments in its structure, which were responsible for different types of activities, the organization completely controlled the public and private life of its citizens. The various activities of the organization included a wide program of cultural and tourist leisure, which had its own characteristics, depending on the duties that the state assigned to men and women. At the same time, it is stated that these measures were voluntary in nature. It was revealed that the Department of Sports, which was responsible for the organization of sports and games for the population, contributed to the establishment and support in public opinion of the physical ideal of the National Socialists and A. Hitler in particular. It was found that the goal of maintaining proper physical condition among the citizens of the Third Reich differed in the pre-war and wartime propaganda of the corresponding image. It was determined that the Department of Vacations and Travels, in an effort to strengthen the feeling of patriotism and an attempt to reduce differences between the citizens of Nazi Germany, contributed in a certain way to the physical and mental preparation of the population for the coming war. It was found out that mainly the activities of “Beauty of Work”, which was supposed to improve the workplaces of workers, were carried out at the expense of the workers themselves. It is revealed that the Nazis succeeded in using festivals as a tool of social unification and political mobilization. Gender ideology was spread by relevant thematic festivals
