Abstract

The article attempts to identify the gender ideals adhered to by the National Socialists using specific propaganda materials of the youth organizations of the Third Reich. The system of youth organizations was divided according to the gender principle and was based on the idea of "youth led by youth". It was revealed that although the Nazis did not give primacy to a certain part, it is clear from the propaganda materials that the girls' part of the organizations was rather auxiliary to the boys'. It was found out that although the entry into youth organizations took place at the age of ten, the promotion of the respective organizations took place even in junior high school. School textbooks presented participation in the Hitler Youth or the League of German Girls as something desirable, obligatory for every true young German and young German woman. And the school curriculum itself was full of relevant ideology, including gender. It was determined that the main purpose of the boys' part of the organizations was pre-military training. Collective camps, hikes, "military games" and sports were supposed to prepare boys for future service in the army and the role of a soldier in the future. The girls' part of the organizations prepared them for future motherhood and family life. They had to know how to manage the economy, take care of the house and garden, and have the skills to take care of the baby in order to create ideal conditions for their husband. It was noted that each youth organization had its own printed organ of the press. Through the propaganda that was placed in the pages of these magazines, the Nazis affirmed the youth in the worldview ideal and the ideal of appearance that was expected of them. It is noted that the collection "Faith and Hope" was a vivid example of a propaganda text that helped in the formation of relevant qualities. Weekly posters with quotes that motivated the youth in the right direction also helped. Ceremonies common to the Nazi movement occupied a considerable place in the system of spreading gender ideas. Understanding the value of cinema, the Nazis organized Youth Film Festivals. They served as an effective source of spreading ideology.
