Abstract

The article highlights the results of research into the motives of professional development of teachers during the war period in Ukraine. Also, stimulating and hindering factors of professional development, currently relevant directions for professional improvement of teachers are determined. It was found that the majority of respondents have the opportunity to improve professionally, but among the obstacles, teachers single out lack of time and difficult life circumstances, including the war. The factors that most stimulate the professional development of teachers are interest in work, self-education and new professional tasks. The dominant motive for professional development for the surveyed teachers is the need for self-disclosure and self-affirmation in the profession (97%), as well as the need for respect from colleagues and the professional community (48%) and the need for professional growth (47.2%). Among the directions of professional development that are relevant at this time, the largest percentage of positive answers were received: the need to expand psychological knowledge and the need to improve pedagogical skills. Although such areas as the desire for personal growth, harmonization of the personality and the need to deepen knowledge of the subject taught by teachers are also quite relevant
