Abstract

The article reveals the essence of social activity, life optimism, social success, and social self-determination of an individual. In particular, social activity defined as a characteristic of the way of life of a social subject, focused on changing the social environment in accordance with current needs, interests, goals, ideals, which is manifested through the promotion and implementation of social initiatives, as well as participation in solving current personal and social tasks. Optimism in life is revealed as a person's ability to see the positive in any life situation, to easily find and attract resources to overcome difficulties in achieving defined goals, solving current problems; confidence in a better future, victory. Social success is presented as a person's ability to achieve set goals, fully fulfill their duties, overcome difficulties, show curiosity, actively and creatively fulfill social roles; to have recognition of their achievements in the immediate social environment. Social self-determination is defined as a process and a result, the conscious finding of an individual's own, fairly independent position in the system of social connections and relations with other people (emotional, informational, professional) in various spheres of life. The connection and interdependence of the above-mentioned concepts is traced, and social activity is defined as the broadest concept. A possible sequence of formation of social activity, life optimism, social success, social self-determination is presented; life optimism is called the motivational base and at the same time the beginning of the process of personal development. Examples of the manifestation of the studied features and processes in student youth are given, in particular through public activities, scientific research work, cultural and mass events, sports and creative activities, communication and adaptation.
