Abstract
During the last ten years, traditional media have undergone a period of active transformation and have become cross-media, that is, those that place their materials in various multimedia formats and on various digital platforms known today. Social networks in the media sphere have become powerful tools for attracting a larger audience of consumers of information content, such as news. The article examines the appropriateness of using video hosting „YouTube” in the media sphere as a tool for the distribution of journalistic video products. In addition, YouTube has become a powerful resource for obtaining additional income for journalistic editorial offices. At the current stage, there is a problem with the observance of journalistic standards on YouTube, as opposed to the ambitions of media people to get as much profit there as possible by mass posting of video content and the use of sensational, often „yellow” headlines.By interviewing individual media managers, it was possible to make a cross-section of the peculiarities of the use of YouTube by their editorial offices, to compare the number of personnel involved in the creation and publication of content, respectively.The results of the study showed that among the most famous and popular Ukrainian media there are both supporters of observing journalistic standards and the rules of the YouTube community, as well as fans of clickbait headlines. Depending on the number of published video materials and the use of manipulative titles, the amount of profit received by channel owners can vary significantly.Further research by scientists will contribute to a deeper study of the relationship between compliance with journalistic standards and monetization of content on YouTube video hosting. It is appropriate to conduct a survey among the audience of various YouTube channels regarding the consumption of content where violations of journalistic standards are present and absent. It will also give an understanding of who and what exactly influences the observance of journalistic standards: it is the media that accustoms the viewer to clickbait, or it is the viewer who searches for such content on the network out of their own needs.
