Abstract
The article substantiates the existential-systemic methodology of the temporal polarity of a person's life, in which there is a dichotomy, on the one hand, of the “present self”, the phenomenology of life now and past experience, and, on the other hand, the idea of the future through the formation of the “self”, through the experience of challenges, the reassessment of the space of possibilities and externally set conditions. It is proved that the analysis of the image of the future as part of the life path means the possibility and ability of an individual to enrich the horizon of his or her own life over time, in which each specific space (existential, mental, bodily, social environment, relationships and love, development and success, etc.) determines either the existential fullness and overcoming of crises, challenges and limitations, or, conversely, causes the experience of impossibility and stopping due to the loss of regulatory ontological meanings. The author describes the meaning-centered and genetic-modeling perspectives of the study of the image of the future. The chain of initial categories is substantiated, which include: “consciousness”, “image of the world”, and subjective reality. The instrumental act of generating an image of the future is revealed. It is proposed to consider the formation of the image of the future based on the activity paradigm, systemic and existential approaches. The phenomenology, operationality and functionality of the existential-systemic analysis of the image of the future are revealed. The psychological mechanisms of developing the meanings of future existence, which strengthen the identity with new perspectives and create a position of the individual in his/her vision, are determined. The nature of the dialog between the individual and the world is described. The specifics of the “world's request” and the individual's ability to give answers are given. Four existential polarities of the process of building an image of the future are presented. The three-part action of finding meaning is described. The existential and systemic obstacles to the formation of an image of the future are identified.
