Abstract
The thesis is based on a holistic retrospective analysis of psychological and educational heritage and of H. Vashchenko summarized his ideas of patriotic education of Ukrainian national pedagogy as a goal that was seen by him in conjunction achievements of European philosophical and educational thought and Ukrainian folk pedagogy. Dominant national education G. Vashenko thought: religious and spiritual (God) and patriotism (Ukraine) as an integrated expression of personal merits Ukrainian. Defined and characterized five main stages of H. Vashchenko views on the national question and the problem of education of patriotism. Established that the key factors in the education patriot statesman-scientist believed the formation of will and character combined with expedient organized physical development (tilovyhovannyam). The analysis of the transformation of social and moral principle of patriotism in the national educational thought since the late XIX century. and the beginning of the XXI century., and the author's interpretation of the term "patriot-statesmen."
