Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the prospects for the development of mergers and acquisitions in international business and ways to maximize the economic efficiency of Ukrainian companies through mergers and acquisitions. An abnormally low actual value of the indicators in 2023 was established due to the suspension of some mergers and acquisitions due to the significant impact on market participants of expectations regarding the possible onset of a recession in the US economy and the world economy. A forecast of trends in mergers and acquisitions in international business for 2024-2028 was made based on statistical data from the Institute of Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances (IMAA) for 2003-2023 and using Microsoft Power BI software. Calculated and graphical data of forecast models of the number of mergers and acquisitions for the period 2024-2028 are presented. The results of the obtained model for the forecast of the number of concluded deals in mergers and acquisitions showed that the forecast values for 2024 are in the range of 36781-58747 deals, the actual value in 2023 is 39,603, which is at the lower limit of the forecast confidence interval of 40,402 deals. The results of the obtained model for the forecast of the cost of one deal in mergers and acquisitions showed that the actual value in 2023 of 63 million USD is beyond the lower limit of the forecast confidence interval of 77 million USD, and the forecast values for 2024 are in the range of 44-94 million USD. The results of the obtained model for the forecast of the number of concluded deals in mergers and acquisitions carried out by financial investors showed that the actual value in 2023 of 4447 deals are at the lower limit of the forecast confidence interval of 4267 deals, and the forecast range of such deals for 2024 was 3936 - 9821 deals. It is substantiated that mergers and acquisitions can become a powerful tool for solving the problems of attracting financing for post-war reconstruction and economic recovery of the Ukrainian economy, attracting the human resources of international companies to ensure sustainable development, as well as attracting innovations and new technologies.
