Abstract

The article addresses the crucial issue of the importance of the instrumental ensemble discipline for the comprehensive development of performance skills among violin students in higher educational institutions of the arts. Obviously, the process of training students in the class of a musical instrument as a main discipling requires professional mastery of solo programs and preparation for concert performances as soloists. However, fostering their skills as ensemble members in various forms of ensemble performance is an equally significant and essential direction in working with violin students. One of the instrumental ensemble genres, which has been prominent for a long time, is the violin ensemble. This ensemble develops and refines skills for ensemble and orchestral performance. Performers lacking experience in ensemble playing will often feel their shortcomings in many aspects. At Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University violin students have the opportunity to enhance their professional mastery within the "Intermezzo" violin ensemble. Modern artistic culture calls for rethinking traditions in both performance and education. In this process, repertoire plays a pivotal role, significantly influencing the development of practical skills and the formation of performance competence and at the same time shaping the image of the Ukrainian musician as a performer who excels in performing music of global stature while introducing Ukrainian compositional heritage at the international level. The practical activities of the ensemble provide students with both performance and pedagogical experience. They become acquainted with diverse musical genres and forms, mastering works by classical composers. A particularly significant aspect of the ensemble’s work is the consistent performance of pieces by Ukrainian composers, coupled with direct creative interaction during meetings with many of the authors whose works the ensemble prepares for stage performances.
