Abstract

The purpose of the article is to determine the specifics of the author's interpretation of Shevchenko's prototext in the poetry of Mykola Rudenko. In modern philological studies, the analysis of intertextual connections remains one of the most relevant research aspects. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is primarily studies of intertextuality. To realize this goal, the intertextual, biographical and cultural-historical research methods were used. The object of the study is the prison lyrics of Mykola Rudenko and the poems “The Eternal Widow and the Devil,” “The Cross,” and “Rognida and Volodymyr”. The subject of the study is the specifics of individual�author's reception of Taras Shevchenko's prototext in the works of M. Rudenko. The analysis highlights the specifics of the author's interpretation of Taras Shevchenko's work in the poetry of Mykola Rudenko. The article comprehends specific cases of Mykola Rudenko's reference to Shevchenko's prototexts, identifies key motifs and images that were borrowed and reinterpreted, and reveals the influence of the socio-political context.
