Abstract

The modern approach to the professional development of teachers primarily defines the value-motivational component as the basis on which professional competencies are built. According to the new edition of the Professional Standard “Teacher of a General Secondary Education Institution”, teachers must possess competencies based on certain value orientations. This article highlights the results of a study of the priority of value orientations of teachers of educational institutions during the war in Ukraine. The research used M. Rokich’s methodology “Value Orientations”. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the most significant terminal values (values-goals) for teachers are: health; happy family life; financially secure life; love; freedom; self-confidence; active life. Among the instrumental values (values-means), the most significant are: responsibility; independence; honesty; education; accuracy; self-control; upbringing. The authors of the article also provide recommendations for overcoming the problems identified in the study and preventing possible risks for teachers during their professional growth
