Abstract

The article scientifically substantiates the educational significance and specifics of teaching piano to students majoring in “Solo Singing” in the context of university education. The role of the piano as a universal instrument necessary for conducting classes in vocal and performing, music-theoretical and methodological disciplines is characterized. The tasks of piano training of a student-vocalist and program requirements for the initial stage of study in the piano class are defined. The professional competencies that should be formed in future pop and academic singers, teachers of solo singing in piano classes are outlined. The structure of the piano educational material and the content of the student-vocalist's work on scales, exercises, etudes, piano pieces of various forms and levels of complexity are analyzed. The pedagogical expediency of mastering the skills of working on professionally oriented material by vocal students in the piano class is substantiated. The specifics of performing vocal exercises on the piano in different keys (by notes and by ear) and the peculiarities of singing vocal exercises to your own accompaniment are revealed. The main forms of student work on piano accompaniment to vocalizations and simple vocal works are defined. The following is an indicative repertoire for mastering by vocal students in the piano class at the initial stage of study. The conclusions are formulated: 1. The piano is a universal musical instrument used in all types of professional training of academic and pop singers. 2. The piano training of a vocal student at the university has its own specifics, which, in addition to mastering traditional educational material (scales, exercises, etudes, piano pieces), involves mastering the skills of playing vocal exercises and the ability to select an accompaniment to them by ear, performing accompaniment to vocalizations and simple vocal pieces. 3. Mastery of the piano is an indicator of professional mobility and professional competence of a modern vocalist-performer and teacher of solo singing.
