Abstract

This paper explores innovative methods for teaching the native language in primary school through the integration of alternative pedagogical technologies, particularly the Montessori method and Waldorf education. It highlights the importance of multisensory and associative learning in fostering speech development, motivation, and literacy skills among young learners. The author analyzes how storytelling, symbolic imagery of letters, and sensory-motor activities support children’s imagination, emotional engagement, and memory. Drawing on global educational research and the principles of New Ukrainian School (NUS), the study demonstrates the effectiveness of combining creative, competency-based, and child-centered approaches. The paper underscores the potential of letter stories, intonation games, and visual metaphors as tools for enhancing phonetic awareness and writing readiness, advocating for further adaptation and implementation of these methods in modern Ukrainian classrooms.
