Abstract

Socio-psychological support for military personnel and their integration into civilian life after returning from a combat zone is very important. After all, according to world statistics, every fifth participant in hostilities, in the absence of any physical injuries, may experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, acute reaction to combat trauma, and generalized anxiety disorders. Various emotional and behavioral disorders (outbursts of anger; suicidal tendencies; fear of being attacked from behind; feelings of guilt for remaining alive; the emergence of bad habits; identification with the dead; conflicts with others and family) can manifest in servicemen, both immediately and several months after returning from the combat zone. The article is devoted to an extremely important topic for modern Ukrainian society, namely the socio-psychological adaptation of military personnel in the post-war period. The lack of adequate support for service members upon returning home from a combat zone can negatively impact their psychosocial and physical health and lead to social isolation. One of the conditions for successful socio-psychological adaptation is the integration of military personnel into society. Currently, it is predicted that after the victory, about one and a half million servicemen returning to civilian life may experience difficulties in finding employment, restoring social communication, establishing family relationships, and have problems with physical and mental health. The authors determined that the socio-psychological adaptation of military personnel in the post-war period should be based on a comprehensive approach (physical and psychological rehabilitation, economic support, employment assistance, integration into society), which will help reduce the level of social tension and ensure the stable development of society.
