Abstract

The article considers the concept of «image» in art and analyses the works of scholars and practitioners of the past and present devoted to the study of the artistic image. The features of the artistic image, such as metaphorical, associative, paradoxical, individual, emotional, dynamic and development, and national and cultural context are analysed. The types of images are characterised, such as realistic, fantastic, grotesque and allegorical. The article highlights the experience of creating the performance ‘Women Dancing with Wolves’ by the Metamorphosis plastic theatre (Kyiv, Krakow Cultural Cluster), which reveals the depths of the female soul through plasticity and movement. The author's project highlights the role of dance in supporting women during the war. ‘Women Dancing with Wolves’ is a story about a woman's return to her original source, where naturalness and strength become the basis of her transformation. The article describes the stages of the production (1. Getting to know each other. 2. Development of the concept of the performance. 3. Creation of a plastic performance. 4. Presentation of the performance to the audience). The images of the performance are based on the study of the Wild Woman Archetype by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The paper analyses the process of creating the images of a plastic performance (choice of musical material; creation of vocabulary through natural movement, experience and emotional state of a woman; combination of the emotional state of a woman with natural phenomena; building a story based on the connection of women at every stage of life: from youth to adulthood; manifestation – the answer to the question ‘Who am I?’, verbally through the comprehension of their emotions, feelings, experiences. The publication presents how five images of women were created based on the awareness of the uniqueness of the individual and his/her life story, connection with nature.
