Abstract

Covenant [from Hebrew ברית‎ (berit), literally — union, agreement] — a biblical concept that originally meant a sacred bond (holy covenant, agreement) between God and His chosen righteous person, family, or entire nation. The term gave its name to the two main parts of the Bible in the Christian tradition — the Old Testament and the New Testament.
