Abstract

The article analyzes productive affixes that have gained frequency of use, based on modern literary works for children. It is noted that in the period of globalization, interest in native Ukrainian affixes is increasing. It has been observed that contemporary children’s prose often features diminutives with suffixes such as -ochk-, -osyk-, -echk-, and -yk-. It is also recorded that grammatical forms of address used by the characters evoke feelings of respect and affection in the reader, encouraging the appreciation of human values. An analysis of contemporary children’s literary texts reveals a limited quantitative presence of augmentative nouns. In contrast, a substantial number of lexical units with diminutive-affectionate suffixes such as -enk-, -isin’k-, and -onk- are observed. This pattern is evident across various parts of speech, including adjectives, adverbs, and numerals. The study underscores the significance of this word-formation type, which serves as a stylistic device expressing deep care for the characters and conveying an affectionate, nurturing attitude within the narrative. Based on the analysis of literary texts for children, productive word-formation types in noun, adjective, and verb stems have been confirmed through examples. An increasing interest among authors of contemporary children’s literature in the use of feminine forms in the Ukrainian language has been demonstrated. Within the analyzed children’s texts, the spread of diminutive-affectionate suffixes in the speech of young readers has been recorded, and the importance of employing word-formation types in actual usage has been substantiated. The analyzed prose literary texts provide grounds to assert that globalization shifts have intensified morphological derivation. It has been established that occasionalisms in contemporary children’s literature are formed using both low-productivity and productive word-formation types. The empirical material of the studied period supports the conclusion that word-formation types which were previously rarely used are experiencing a revival. It has been proven that contemporary prose for children includes reduplication with augmentative semantics. Attention is focused on the gradual increase of occasional vocabulary that is formed using non-productive word-formation types
