Abstract

The research identified the role of graphic design in the formation of the visual identity of a book. The objects of the research are the reproduction of graphic elements in works of Ukrainian literature. As a result of the analysis, the specifics of design solutions in the book design of Ukrainian classics and their communicative function were determined.In today's cultural space, there is a positive dynamic in interest in the updated design of works of Ukrainian literature. In addition, this art trend has ceased to be exclusively a technical aspect of printing and has transformed into a means of communication between the work and the reader, creating the first impression of the content on the mood of the book.The visual identity of publications plays an important role in positioning a book on the market, attracting the attention of a potential reader, and conveying semantic and aesthetic characteristics. High-quality graphic support can create a new interpretation of the content. And this is a rather important function in relation to classical works, since visual design can emphasize cultural context, mood, national identity, etc.
