Abstract

This study examines humorous neologisms in internet discourse, analyzing terms such as "password child," "sharent," "doomscrolling," and "Whexit" through the lens of incongruity theory and sociolinguistic analysis. These playful coinages emerge from sociocultural factors, including digital overload, generational differences, and shared online experiences, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than random linguistic play, humorous internet neologisms represent a systematic adaptive mechanism that helps societies process technological change while creating more reflexive and "humanized" digital culture.
