Abstract
Koshka, A. D. Design of Ivan Franko's book «Farbovanyi Lys» Qualification work. Kyiv: Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, 2025. 96 p. This thesis is devoted to the creation of a graphic design for Ivan Franko's book «Farbovanyi Lys», taking into account the genre specifics of children's literature, national visual traditions, and contemporary trends in book illustration. The study examines the genre and stylistic features of illustrated books in a historical context and describes the main stages in the development of Ukrainian book design. Particular attention is paid to the study of national images, decorative motifs and folklore symbols as components of visual thinking. Contemporary examples of children's book design are analysed and the most appropriate graphic solutions for embodying the image of Ivan Franko's work are identified. Based on the analysis, the author's concept of design was formed, combining artistic interpretation of the text with expressive stylisation. Within the practical stage, a series of illustrations was created, the compositional, plastic and colour-graphic solutions for the publication were determined, and the structure, layout, title elements and cover were developed. The result is an example of a comprehensive design project that reflects an innovative vision of classical literature through the prism of contemporary visual culture and has practical significance for publishing and educational practice.
