Abstract

Kyryshun I.O. Development of a redesign of the board game «Monopoly». Qualification work. Kyiv: Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, 2025. 46 p. The thesis is devoted to the visual redesign of the board game «Monopoly» taking into account modern trends in graphic design. The study considers similar board games, their stylistic and game solutions, changes in the visual composition, adaptation for modern licensed franchises and universes. Comprehensive analyses of key aspects and problems in the visual design of the classic version of the game, its historical background and analogues to it have been carried out. The work also considers the problems of simplification of modern graphic design and its impact on the external uniqueness of biological products - as a criticism of the original design presented by the Parker brothers. All the senses of the design components and their impact on the modern player have been analyzed. As a result, this project substantiates all the author's stylistic decisions, with reference to the information and cultural features of the Middle Ages as the basis for creating the game world, and proposes an updated author's concept for the design of all game components: the playing field, rules, cards, chips and their unified appearance.
