Abstract

Mass media perform the functions of transmitting daily information and shaping public opinion. Due to the Russia-Ukraine War, mass media have become a crucial weapon in the confrontation with the enemy. The aim of this article is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of grammatical means in the creation of the image of the enemy in military-political discourse. A goal is achieved by a set of the following tasks: to analyze linguistic means of the friend/enemy identification in the information warfare; to describe morphological means of creating the enemy’s image in mass media; and to determine the role of syntactic units in shaping the enemy’s image in mass media. Manipulation of consciousness is mainly carried out through the linguistic embodiment, which includes the author's worldview and his moral and ethical principles. The language of social networks is constantly enriched and updated due to a number of neologisms, professional slang, and conversational syntax. The expertise of manipulative influence in political discourse demonstrates that such means constitute a clearly structured system that incorporates the necessary tools at all language levels. Stereotypes and various guidelines play a significant role in shaping the image of the enemy
