Abstract

In contemporary scholarly discourse, the issue of preserving national identity gains particular relevance amid globalization, which threatens to erode traditional cultural practices. In this context, authentic samples of Ukrainian folk song folklore (in textual, musical notation, analogue, and digital forms) are viewed as a strategically important source of historical memory and the nation's cultural and civilizational foundation. At the beginning of the 21st century, the systematic recording and archiving of these works has acquired not only scientific but also strategic significance. This process has undergone qualitative changes due to the intensive implementation of digital technologies, marking a transition to the creation of electronic archives and databases, such as the "Electronic Archive of Ukrainian Folklore" and "Polyphonia". Digitization has transformed folkloristics from a purely academic field into an interactive and open discipline, introducing a new philosophy of archival work where archives are dynamic tools that provide unprecedentedly wide access to materials for scholars in Ukraine and globally. A significant contribution to this effort is also made by enthusiast researchers, whose flexibility and initiative help record unique, little-known samples. A vivid example of the synergy between enthusiasm, a scholarly approach, and modern technologies is the songbook "A Thousand Songs of 'Baba Yelka'"—the result of field expeditions in the Kirovohrad region. This publication contains 1,000 authentic songs with musical transcriptions and documentation, and the use of QR codes for accessing original audio recordings "brings the printed material to life." The folklore of the Kirovohrad region, shaped by the migratory nature of its settlement, possesses great scholarly potential for comparative studies. Thus, digital technologies are not merely a means of preservation, but a catalyst for the dynamic functioning of folklore in the modern world, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the heritage and stimulating interest in it, which serves as a firm basis for preserving national identity.
