Abstract

The publication provides a brief historical overview of the emergence of jazz as a type of musical art and specifies the musical genres of jazz music. It lists the vocal genres that have contributed distinctive performance techniques to jazz music and highlights the styles of jazz art. The author notes that pop singing still relies on the methods and techniques of academic vocals, which is not always appropriate when training the voices of students and applicants to higher education institutions in the pop style.
