Abstract
In contemporary literary-theoretical discourse, the study of various aspects of inter-artistic interaction necessitates drawing on the experience of scholars representing different branches of the humanities. Observations and generalizations that serve as methodological guidelines for literary studies are sought in intersemiotic, cultural, and film-theoretical research. A special place in modern art theory is occupied by the ideas and interpretive contributions of French scholars. A number of observations concerning the functioning and artistic potential of the technique of mise en abyme are presented in the works of Lucien Dällenbach, Christian Metz, Jean-Marc Limoges, and Sébastien Fevry, which have become the subject of scholarly and artistic debate.
