Abstract

The relevance of the topic is determined by the increased role of business processes as a fundamental component of the effective functioning of organizations in conditions of growing competition and rapid changes in the business environment. The purpose of the article is to highlight the theoretical and methodological aspects of analyzing an enterprise’s business processes. To achieve the goal, the study used a systematic approach, methods of analysis and synthesis, deduction, generalization, and others. Approaches to the interpretation of the concept of «business processes» are considered, the author's definition of this concept is given. According to the author, a business process is a holistic, systematized and managed sequence of interrelated actions and operations aimed at transforming input resources into a specific product or service that creates value for consumers and ensures the achievement of the strategic goals of the enterprise. This definition reflects a comprehensive approach to business processes, combining the characteristics of their structuring and consistency, orientation on creating value for customers, and the strategic aspect. It is noted that business process management is a systematic activity aimed at identifying, modeling, analyzing, optimizing, and controlling business processes in order to increase their efficiency and adapt the enterprise to changes in the external and internal environment. The focus is on the features of business process management. The following methodological approaches to the analysis of business processes are considered: a systems approach, business process modeling, qualitative and quantitative analysis, expert methods and case studies, and innovative and technological methods. The emphasis is placed on the fact that business process optimization is a strategic tool aimed at increasing the efficiency of the enterprise's functioning through systematic analysis and improvement of current processes. The main goal of optimization is to reduce costs, reduce the time for performing operations, improve the quality of products or services, and increase customer satisfaction. It is noted that there are two approaches to improving the enterprise's business processes – breakthrough improvement and continuous improvement. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the fact that the study of methodological approaches allows us to form a holistic vision and outline the theoretical foundations underlying business process management in the conditions of a modern market economy.
