Abstract
“The Ukrainian Soul in the Heart of French Canada” is a documentary video essay exploring the phenomenon of preserving Ukrainian identity in the French-speaking environment of Montreal. The project reveals personal stories of Ukrainians living in Quebec, particularly through interviews with subjects, experts, and cultural representatives, as well as archival footage, photographs, and festival materials. The video essay demonstrates how the Ukrainian language, culture, traditions, and spirituality are preserved and transformed in the multicultural space of Canada. The uniqueness of the project lies in its combination of documentary style, emotional depth, and a cultural approach that emphasizes the value of traditions for Ukrainians living abroad. The video is shared through social media platforms, primarily Instagram and Facebook, targeted at the Ukrainian community, with YouTube serving as the main platform for publication.
