Abstract
Maksym Bozhko’s photo project is a visual chronicle of resilience, unity, and the strength of spirit, dedicated to Ukrainian football that continues to live, fight, and inspire even amid full-scale war. Through the lens of the author, we witness more than just a game—we see a world of emotion: empty stands, matches played under air raid sirens, children's dreams against the backdrop of ruins, tears during the national anthem, and European flags draped over Ukrainian players' shoulders. The project tells the story of heroic athletes who, despite danger and loss, remain on the field not only as footballers but as symbols of hope for millions. It captures moments of international solidarity—from European stadiums to banners of support on the streets of distant cities, where the slogan “Stand with Ukraine” echoes loud and clear. This series of photographs is not merely reportage—it is an act of cultural resistance, showcasing how sport unites continents and nations. Football becomes more than a game; it is a tool of humanity, unity, and support in the darkest times. Maksym Bozhko skillfully conveys the contrasts between pain and hope, despair and belief, showing that our strength lies in solidarity. The photo project calls on viewers not to remain indifferent. It reminds us that every voice, every gesture of support matters. This is not just a story about sport—it Ukrainian football today is more than a game. It is life.
