Abstract
The documentary film “One Chance for a Home” is dedicated to the theme of rescuing animals during the full-scale war in Ukraine and to the selfless efforts of those who, despite the danger, evacuate, treat, and find homes for those who cannot protect themselves. The film explores the profound bond between humans and animals in times of catastrophe, showing how love, responsibility, and humanity become a source of strength even in the darkest moments. Through the stories of volunteers, veterinarians, and shelter workers, the film reveals a broader context of war—where, alongside human suffering, there is invisible pain endured by our four-legged companions. The goal of the film is not only to preserve the memory of real events and heroes but also to raise public awareness about the importance of humane treatment of animals. The author addresses issues of responsibility, empathy, and moral choice, inviting viewers to reflect on who truly needs saving—us or them. The film is based on real events, field footage from shelters, and interviews with eyewitnesses. Its format combines reportage, visual observation, and artistic reflection.
