Abstract

The conflict between the attempt to maintain control over the information space and the objective impossibility of hiding the scale of events from the population due to their direct impact on the daily lives of citizens became particularly telling. The relevance of the study is due to the need for a comprehensive analysis of the reaction of the Russian media space to military operations in the Kursk region and the identification of the peculiarities of the Russian Federation's information policy in the conditions of hostilities on its own territory. The aim is to identify the main characteristics and transformations of media coverage of events in the Kursk region by Russian media. The study demonstrates that the Russian system of state control over the information space faced fundamentally new challenges during the Kursk operation. The ineffectiveness of traditional propaganda methods in the face of a direct threat to the territorial integrity of the state revealed structural shortcomings of the entire system of state communications in the Russian Federation
