Abstract

The conducted research outlines the key aspects of the role of influencers in covering military events and shaping public opinion. Influencers represent a new type of media actor who combine the functions of journalists, witnesses, analysts, and opinion leaders. They convey interpretations of military events through online platforms, forming parasocial relationships with their audiences. The main influence strategies include: emotional delivery, alternative interpretations, simplification of complex information, personalization of war, and multiplatform presence. Visual communication and livestreams from the frontlines enhance the sense of presence and trust. In interaction with traditional media, a model of “circular journalism” emerges, where influencers complement classical sources or even become primary ones. Traditional media adopt elements of personalization, while influencers incorporate fact-checking standards. Influencers affect the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral perception of war. They construct frames and narratives, evoke empathy, and create isolated realities through the “filter bubble” effect. Influencer content can change audience behavior — from making donations to participating in public actions. Narratively, influencers act as “story architects,” creating coherent plots with heroes, conflicts, and moral lessons. The “heroization–dehumanization” strategy, as well as themes of trauma, resilience, and recovery, are central to shaping attitudes toward war. Ethical and security challenges include the risk of unintentional disclosure of sensitive information, the spread of disinformation, and lack of oversight. Addressing these issues requires the development of a regulatory framework that preserves the autonomy of influencers while integrating them into the system of strategic communications. Thus, the hypothesis of the study was confirmed: influencers are unique media actors. In wartime conditions, they serve both as a mobilization resource and a source of potential risks, necessitating a balanced approach to engagement with them.
