Abstract
The relevance of the master's research is due to the fact that, despite the existing steps to modernize higher education in Ukraine, there is still a lack of effective mechanisms for adapting to changes, which reinforces the need for scientific understanding of ways to adapt the higher education system to modern social and political challenges. The work focuses on the challenges associated with the military consequences for higher education institutions, the need to ensure the continuity of education and support the viability of participants in the educational process, as well as the problem of mismatch between the training of graduates and the needs of the labor market and issues of inclusion. The purpose of the research is to study the essence of the concept of adaptation of higher education and determine its key characteristics; outline current social and political challenges; analyze their impact on the global higher education system and substantiate the principles that will contribute to the adaptation of Ukrainian higher education to modern conditions. Accordingly, the research tasks, object (higher education in the context of modern challenges) and subject (adaptation of Ukrainian higher education to modern social and political challenges) are defined. The methodological basis is made up of theoretical methods (classification, analysis, synthesis, comparison), as well as systemic, synergistic and educational approaches, which provided a comprehensive vision of higher education as an open, nonlinear system and socio-cultural phenomenon.
