Abstract
The relevance of the study is due to the priority of modern preschool education regarding the development of speech and enrichment of vocabulary as the basis for successful socialization and cognitive development of a child. It is substantiated that an innovative means of lexical development can be etymological fairy tales, which combine knowledge of the origin of a word, understanding of its meaning and creative speech use. Psychological-pedagogical, linguistic and linguodidactic approaches to the problem of lexical development of preschool children are analyzed and insufficient development of the issue of using etymological fairy tales as a special method of enriching the dictionary is revealed. It is substantiated that an etymological fairy tale is an effective tool that combines knowledge of the origin of a word, understanding of its meaning and creative speech use, turning the assimilation of vocabulary into a holistic developmental process. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally verify the possibilities of etymological fairy tales in enriching the vocabulary of preschool children and in creating an author's website with methodological tools for composing etymological fairy tales for children of different age groups. The practical significance of the master's qualification project is to develop a website with a selection of etymological fairy tales, algorithms and samples of their creation to help educators and parents use this resource in the development of the speech of preschool children.
