Abstract

The central purpose of this article is to highlight the nature, place and role of the language confidence in teaching speaking to preschoolers to avoid or overcome educational gaps. The main attention is paid to the concept of language confidence, its features and components, which is discussed in details through the article. The author concentrates on the examination of scientific researches to study the definition content of the language confidence in general, as well as characterizes the specific features of the language confidence in teaching speaking to preschoolers. The author focuses on presenting the list of the components which can master forming language confidence. In order to do so a general overview of it is presented. The nature of its role and positive influence is fully examined. The proprietary product of the research is the development of the author’s version of the language confidence components for preschoolers are created. They are willingness to speak, positive experience of success, strong-willed courage, feel supported, increased interest in learning English. The scientific article provides a detailed content analysis of the methods, approaches, forms techniques and other specific elements which are the basis for language confidence formation, such as: providing an English-speaking and favorable emotional environments, possessing sufficient vocabulary, teaching language patterns and sentence frames, operating speaking routine activities, adhering to the principle of accessibility, using praise and achievement notes, following the rule: ‘mistakes are part of learning’, using game and visual methods. The practical significance of our study is presented in Table 1. And 2. In the conclusions, the author highlights the recommendations how to avoid or overcome educational gaps in teaching speaking to preschoolers.
