Abstract

In the master’s qualification thesis, migration processes in the context of the globalization of the world economy are examined as a multidimensional socio-economic phenomenon that significantly affects the formation of international labor markets, the movement of human capital, demographic dynamics, and the resilience of national economies. It is substantiated that under conditions of intensified global transformations, digitalization, regional development disparities, and the growing scale of crisis phenomena, migration acquires a systemic character and becomes one of the key factors of state competitiveness. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of migration processes in Ukraine, which, as a result of profound socio-economic transformations and the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation, has experienced large-scale migration waves. The study examines contemporary forms of Ukrainian migration, including forced wartime migration, refugee movements, and labor emigration, as well as their impact on the demographic structure, labor market, reproduction of human capital, and prospects for the country’s socio-economic development. The purpose of the master’s qualification thesis is a comprehensive study of migration processes in the global economy, an analysis of their forms, trends, and consequences, as well as the development of scientifically grounded recommendations for improving Ukraine’s migration policy. The object of the research is migration processes as a socio-economic phenomenon under globalization, while the subject comprises the forms, trends, consequences, and mechanisms for regulating international migration. The thesis deepens the theoretical and methodological foundations of migration research, clarifies its economic essence, and systematizes approaches to the analysis of migration systems in the context of global challenges, demographic transformations, and geopolitical instability. The conceptual interpretation of migration processes as a phenomenon functioning simultaneously at the individual and societal levels has been further developed. A systematization of Ukraine’s migration waves is proposed, identifying seven historical stages, which makes it possible to comprehensively assess the evolution of motivations, directions, and consequences of the migration behavior of the Ukrainian population. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of recommendations for modernizing Ukraine’s state migration policy, taking into account international experience, aimed at reducing the negative effects of emigration, effectively utilizing the potential of the diaspora, developing legal channels for labor migration, and forming an integrated system for the management and monitoring of migration processes in the context of globalization.
