Abstract
Master’s qualification thesis: 93 pages, 9 figures, 51 tables, 56 references. Relevance: the study is driven by the ongoing transformation of Ukraine’s financial market under the influence of macroeconomic instability, war-related risks, strengthened regulatory requirements of the National Bank of Ukraine, the digitalization of banking services, and the integration of the Ukrainian financial system into the European regulatory framework in accordance with Basel and CRR/CRD standards. Object of the study: activities of banking institutions in the financial market of Ukraine. Subject of the study: theoretical and methodical foundations of the functioning of banking institutions, indicators and methods for assessing their efficiency, financial risks, modern models of banking operations, and practical approaches to their analysis. The purpose of the thesis is to examine the activities of banking institutions in the financial market of Ukraine and to develop practical recommendations for improving their efficiency in the context of current regulatory, technological, and market challenges. Tasks of the study: 1. To investigate the essence and functions of banking institutions as participants in the financial market. 2. To analyze the structure of Ukraine’s financial market and the specific features of its banking segment. 3. To summarize methodological approaches to evaluating the efficiency of banking institutions. 4. To conduct financial analysis and assess risks in the activities of banking institutions using ratio analysis and methodological models. 5. To develop a set of recommendations aimed at improving the efficiency of banking institutions, enhancing risk management, and implementing modern digital solutions. The thesis presents the theoretical foundations of banking activities, analyzes the current state of Ukraine’s banking sector, systematizes key performance indicators of banks, and evaluates the risks and outcomes of their activities. Based on the conducted analysis, practical recommendations have been developed to strengthen the competitiveness of banks, improve their operational performance, and adapt to contemporary regulatory and technological requirements. The results of the thesis may be used by banking institutions to optimize financial processes, enhance risk management systems, form strategic directions for development, as well as in educational processes for teaching finance and banking disciplines.
