Abstract

In the global context, the agricultural sector is under the influence of complex factors that form new conditions for its development. Changes in demand for food products, price instability, and aggravation of environmental problems require states and businesses to implement adaptive mechanisms for managing economic security. World statistics indicate an increasing role of innovations in creating sustainable and effective agricultural systems that are able to withstand external shocks and simultaneously meet the needs of the world’s population. For Ukraine, the agricultural sector is not only one of the most important components of the gross domestic product, but also a strategic factor of national security. Given the specifics of geopolitical challenges, internal economic reforms, and structural changes, the issue of economic security of the agricultural sector is becoming particularly acute. Over the period 2021–2024, the agricultural sector of Ukraine has experienced significant challenges, but at the same time demonstrates signs of innovative development and adaptation. Analysis of the presented data demonstrates that in 2021–2024, Ukrainian agriculture is experiencing periods of crisis declines and partial recovery related to external and internal factors. Military actions, economic instability, climate change, and investment restrictions pose risks to the stability of agricultural production and its economic security. Building a sustainable agricultural economy requires consistent efficiency improvements, diversification of investments, and infrastructure improvements. According to information from official sources, the trend of growth in investments, digital technologies, and innovative agricultural technologies, such as GPS navigation, automated field monitoring systems, biotechnology, and high-precision agriculture, has been maintained. In 2021–2024, the share of farmers using digital solutions, in particular GPS navigation and drones, increased, which indicates the transformation of the industry and its increased competitiveness. At the same time, due to military actions and destruction of infrastructure in 2022–2024, production activity decreased and export volumes decreased, which affects the stability and economic security of the industry. The aggregated data show that the active implementation of digital technologies and innovative agricultural technologies during this period contributes to increasing productivity and reducing costs. At the same time, uneven implementation between regions and enterprise sizes creates additional risks to overall stability. In general, the potential for sustainable development remains, but its implementation requires targeted state policy, stimulation of innovation and development of infrastructure. The analysis confirms that the formation of effective policies contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and stabilizing economic security in the long term.
