Abstract

The purpose of the article is to highlight the process of redesigning historical Ukrainian military awards in the context of the formation of the national military identity of the Ukrainian army. The methodological basis of the study was the principles of scientific objectivity and historicism, systematicity and comprehensive study of the problem. In the process of the study, the method of identity discourse analysis was applied, which is based on an interdisciplinary approach, which allows us to characterize various aspects of the formation of the Ukrainian military code. The formation of Ukrainian military identity is based on the principles of the development of symbols and reflects, first of all, the belonging of the army to the state, as the main sign of identity, and also symbolizes devotion to the tasks assigned by the state to the army. The scientific novelty of the study lies in revealing the main trends in the development of military identity design and defining it as the basis for the formation of national military identity. Conclusions. The symbolism of the awards is based on the principle of historical inheritance of the best traditions of Ukrainian military formations of the period of the Zaporozhian Cossacks and the Liberation Struggles of the 20th century. The process of creating military awards is based on historical national traditions and is an organic interrelation of these traditions and modernity, reflecting the national character of the symbols of the Ukrainian faleristic tradition. In the context of this process, a redesign of historical military awards took place and, on its basis, their inclusion in the new system of incentive awards of the military department.
