Abstract

The article is devoted to a systematic linguistic analysis of hate as an effective means of manipulative influence in the contemporary German-language communicative space. The study focuses on material drawn from German-language media discourse and communication on social networks, which makes it possible to trace the functioning of hate speech in conditions of public and semi-public interaction. The paper outlines the main theoretical approaches to the study of hate, in particular within the frameworks of critical discourse analysis, pragmatics, and speech act theory. Special attention is paid to identifying the lexical and stylistic means used to realize hate, including pejorative vocabulary, generalizing labels, dehumanizing and military metaphors, evaluative intensifiers, imperative constructions, rhetorical questions, and ironic or sarcastic utterances. The study examines the pragmatic dimension of the manipulative impact of hate, which is realized through explicit and implicit meanings. It is established that hate utterances perform not only an expressive but also a strategic function aimed at managing the recipient’s perception, legitimizing social exclusion, andnormalizing aggression in public discourse. The article also analyzes the discursive conditions of the spread of hate speech in the German-language public sphere, in particular the role of media and digital platforms in reproducing and amplifying manipulative meanings. It is shown that hate functions not as an isolated linguistic violation but as a recurrent communicative practice embedded in broader ideological narratives and contributing to the formation of stable negative attitudes toward certain social groups. In this context, hate speech is viewed as an element of strategic communication that combines emotional influence with cognitive simplification of reality. Hate thus emerges as an effective tool for manipulating collective consciousness, which determines the relevance of its linguistic analysis within contemporary studies of media and digital discourse. The results obtained have both theoretical and practical significance for further research into manipulative strategies in media and digital discourse, as well as for the development of critical analysis of linguistic practices in modern communication.
