Abstract
The article examines the pedagogical aspects of developing leadership skills in preschool children within the educational environment of early childhood education institutions. It presents the results of the first stage of an empirical study aimed at identifying the conditions and pedagogical approaches that foster the development of leadership competencies in young children. The pedagogical conditions and forms of organizing collaborative activities that support the emergence of leadership qualities in preschoolers are highlighted. Based on the age-specific characteristics of preschool children and the principles of the activity-based approach, the study emphasizes that the formation of leadership tendencies and social initiative is most effective within diverse forms of interaction. In particular, the potential of role-playing and socio-dramatic games, mini-projects, morning circles, children’s performance of “leader of the day” duties, as well as integrated activities involving storytelling and dramatization, is considered. The significance of pedagogical guidance, peer interaction, and the educational environment as a stimulus for leadership activity is underscored. Attention is drawn to the importance of developing emotional intelligence and communication competence among educators, as well as fostering partnerships with parents, which strengthen social interactions within the learning environment. The described forms of educational organization are implemented within the scientific and methodological framework «Developing Leadership Skills in the Educational Environment of Preschool Institutions» Its conceptual novelty lies in the step-by-step acquisition of the Leader’s Rules by children, which function as a structured model for the formation of leadership behavior and social activity in preschool settings. The program involves the application of contemporary pedagogical technologies and the creation of optimal psychological and pedagogical conditions aimed at fostering leadership qualities in preschool children. The findings may be used by educational psychologists and preschool educators to optimize the development of children’s social and leadership competencies.
