Abstract

The globalisation of the legal space and active international interaction require training lawyers who can work effectively with foreign professional sources and participate in transnational legal processes. The integration of foreign language training into law faculty curricula ensures the development of professional communicative competence, access to international educational and scientific resources, and promotes increased student academic mobility. The purpose of the study is to analyse international experience in training lawyers and to assess the feasibility of adapting it to Ukrainian realities, taking into account the development of foreign-language skills and specialised legal terminology. Methods. The research uses a comparative analysis of the educational systems of leading countries, a method for summarising scientific sources and educational programs, and a systematic analysis to determine the effectiveness of integrating international practices into national legal education. Special attention is paid to the study of the structures of educational programs, the practical elements of training, and the formation of foreign-language competence of future lawyers. Results. It has been established that leading educational systems prioritise a practical orientation in learning, interdisciplinary approaches, the development of analytical and critical thinking, and the use of clinical methods, simulation exercises, and real-case work. Modern foreign-language professional competence is considered a mandatory component of education, encompassing mastery of legal terminology, the ability to work with international legal documents, and participation in international academic and professional communications. Conclusions. The implementation of international experience of integrating practice-oriented methods, interdisciplinary courses, and programs for the development of foreign language competence will contribute to the improvement of the quality of training of lawyers in Ukraine and will allow for the preparation of competitive specialists who are able to act effectively in the global legal environment and participate in international legal processes.
