Abstract
The article substantiates the need to train future specialists in international relations to apply English-language communicative strategies in their intercultural communication, which are one of the indicators of a high level of formation of English-language communicative competence and the culture of communication in general. Foreign language communicative competence is formed under the condition that the speaker possesses not only communication skills and abilities, but also a culture of communication, which includes linguistic and socio-cultural knowledge (knowledge of the norms and peculiarities of communication in a certain language environment) and phonological skills (intonation).
