Abstract

The article highlights the progress and results of a formative experiment on developing creative self-expression in future vocal artists using information and communication technologies. The formative experiment was conducted in three stages, during which the following pedagogical conditions were introduced into the educational process: creating a positive atmosphere in classes on professional disciplines at the higher education institution, encouraging students to engage in productive ‘communication’ with computer equipment, ensuring information and communication comfort in the cooperation of future specialists with computer equipment. During the formative experiment, the following teaching methods were used: familiarisation with topics related to working in programmes for creating presentations, writing notes using music editors, creating music, etc., summarising and structuring the information received with the help of the teacher, creating presentations in PowerPoint and FinelCut programmes, active practical use of information and communication technologies in the process of musical and creative activities in professional discipline classes, and others. The assessment of the level of creative self-expression of future vocal artists using information and communication technologies was carried out using the following criteria: the degree of interest in musical art through the use of IT tools, the degree of awareness of theoretical and methodological knowledge in the use of IT tools, the ability to understand and evaluate the content of a musical work. Twenty-four first-year (bachelor's) students majoring in musical arts and enrolled in the educational and professional programme ‘Solo Singing’ took part in the formative experiment, with 12 of them entering the control group and 12 entering the experimental group. The methodology developed by the authors for the formation of creative self-expression using information and communication technologies was implemented in classes on the methodology of teaching vocals and music pedagogy and music psychology at the Faculty of Music Art and Choreography. The results obtained at the end of the research and experimental work allowed us to conclude that the methodology introduced into the educational process at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, aimed at developing the creative self-expression of future vocal artists through information and communication technologies, is highly effective.
