Abstract

This article presents the findings of historical and pedagogical studies into the innovative activities of postgraduate teacher training institutions in Ukraine in the context of European integration, covering the period from 2006 to 2024. The issue raised in the article is characterised within a chronological segment of the historical and educational process, which, according to the periodisation, is divided into the following stages: the introduction of innovative teaching technologies into postgraduate teacher education in the context of European integration (2006–2014), and the modernisation and development of postgraduate teacher education in the context of the reform of Ukraine’s education system (2015–2024). Based on the results of historical and pedagogical research, educational practices that have become widespread in postgraduate teacher training institutions during these years are presented. The essential features of the transformation of the content, technological, organisational and managerial components of postgraduate teacher training in the context of European integration processes are revealed. The impact of changes in educational objectives and the regulatory framework on the progress of innovative activities in postgraduate teacher training institutions is examined. It has been demonstrated that the introduction of new teaching technologies during the first phase (2006–2014) was piecemeal, uneven and carried out within the framework of the traditional organisational structure of postgraduate teacher training at that time. During the second stage (2015–2024), systematic shifts in the field of innovative activity can be observed, driven by educational reforms, processes of decentralisation of management, and the expansion of educational institutions’ autonomy. The article highlights the characteristics of innovative activity at all levels of operation of postgraduate teacher education institutions. It presents a retrospective analysis of systemic improvements in the organisation and management of the postgraduate teacher education system, which contributed to the establishment of regional postgraduate teacher education institutes as regional centres for the professional development of teachers. The progression from concept to implementation of the European model of education is explored, within which the teacher is regarded as a subject of continuous professional development. The evolutionary development of postgraduate teacher education is summarised: from a model of periodic professional development to a system of continuous professional development.
