Анотація

The article is devoted to the study of various negatively marked vocabulary in the Ukrainian-language journalistic style of the first quarter of the 21st century. The relevance of the investigation is due to the constant and steady increase in the number of the named words in the national language in general and in the journalistic functional variety in particular, as well as the growing interest of modern linguistic science in this issue. The material for this article was more than 200 units selected by the method of continuous sampling from the named style of the Ukrainian language (newspapers, magazines, radio and television programs and broadcasts) for 2000-2025. At the first stage, the main extralinguistic and intralinguistic factors that contributed to the emergence and active functioning of a significant number of negatively marked words in the modern journalistic style were identified and considered. Special attention was focused on studying the genesis of the studied units. In the Ukrainian-language journalistic style of the first quarter of the 21st century, the following main sources of replenishment of negatively marked lexemes have been identified and thoroughly analyzed: colloquial words themselves, various jargonisms, slangisms, argotisms, authorial neologisms, borrowings, dialectisms. Among the thematic groups, various names of persons have been attested, in particular units for designating a person’s appearance, his or her mental abilities, as well as collective nouns, nominations of actions and states, signs and qualities
