Анотація
The study examines the indirect representation of emotions in contemporary English and French women-centred fiction. It proceeds from the assumption that emotions in literary texts are not always explicitly named but emerge through narrative structure, interaction, and everyday detail. The analysis is based on selected novels that foreground women’s experiences and demonstrate a shared sensitivity to the emotional texture of ordinary life. Particular attention is paid to the role of routine, dialogue, silence, and spatial context as means of conveying emotional meaning. The findings show that emotional experience is constructed through small narrative elements such as repeated actions, fragments of speech, and pauses, which require active interpretation on the part of the reader. The comparison of Anglophone and Francophone texts reveals differences in narrative dynamics, while confirming a common tendency toward indirect emotional expression. The study argues that emotions in these texts are not presented as fixed states but unfold through situational and relational contexts, aligning with approaches in affective narratology.
