Abstract

The article reveals the theoretical foundations for implementing gender policy and gender sensitivity principles in the educational process of higher education institutions. The preservation of gender asymmetry in the academic environment, despite the existing regulatory framework, highlights the need for a systematic transformation of educational practices in line with Ukraine’s international commitments in the field of gender equality in the context of European integration. The purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical justification for practical recommendations on the integration of the principles of gender equality and gender sensitivity into the teaching and methodological support of the educational process in higher education institutions. The research uses methods of theoretical analysis and synthesis, generalisation and systematisation of scientific sources, comparison, as well as analysis of regulatory and legal documents in the field of gender equality in education. The content of key concepts was analysed: gender policy, gender sensitivity and a gender-sensitive educational environment. Five basic principles for creating gender-sensitive teaching materials were identified: double nomination, balanced representation, avoidance of stereotypes, non-discrimination, and correct use of feminine forms. Their practical application in the development of working programmes for academic disciplines, lecture courses and presentation materials is examined in detail. It has been proven that consistent integration of a gender-sensitive approach at all levels of the educational process is a necessary condition for ensuring equal opportunities for all students regardless of their gender identity and contributes to the formation of a democratic culture in the academic community
