Abstract
The article raises the problem of developing students' creative thinking in the process of processing text in Ukrainian language lessons. It is noted that the ability to creative thinking will facilitate the development of a person's own abilities and talents, promote self-improvement, and create opportunities for achieving personally significant goals. It is emphasized that creative thinking involves the ability to evaluate the information presented in the text, identify non-standard and original thinking in its perception, explanation, understanding of causes, and predicting consequences. It is emphasized that the development of creative thinking contributes to the improvement of such mental operations as comparison, abstraction, and generalization. It is explained that creative thinking and creativity are related as a tool and a result: thinking is a cognitive process of generating new ideas and unconventional problem solving, while creativity is the implementation of these ideas in activity. Text processing contributes not only to the improvement of language and reading skills, but also forms the ability to comprehend the experience of other people, historical and cultural events, and develop critical and creative thinking. The most effective methods and techniques for developing students' creative thinking for processing educational texts in Ukrainian language lessons are highlighted: work on retelling the text; the use of storytelling. Examples of texts for retelling are given, the tasks of which involve students making certain additions or changes to the content. It is concluded that the development of creative thinking in students is a key task for modern education, because it is this quality that is the driving force of innovation and progress. Attention is focused on the problem of forming students' creative thinking not only on the basis of analysis, retelling and creation of texts, but also on such types of their processing as editing, translation, quoting.
