Abstract

The article considers social entrepreneurship as an effective tool for solving current social problems. Its key features are: priority of the social goal (support, employment, assistance to vulnerable categories of the population, improving their quality of life); financial independence of the enterprise (receiving income from the sale of goods or providing services, striving to reduce dependence on donors); transparency of activities and reporting (openness to stakeholders regarding decisions made, resources used and results of activities); entrepreneurial approach of the enterprise manager (availability of an enterprise development strategy, risk forecasting, efficient use of resources); social responsibility and value orientations of the team (adherence to ethical principles in activities, presence of common values, orientation towards improving social welfare). An analysis of effective practices of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine and abroad, in particular, in the UK, the USA, Australia, the Middle East, India, Spain, and the Benelux countries, was carried out. The main areas of activity of social enterprises are grouped into four categories: social enterprises for the integration and employment of persons with disabilities, social enterprises for the support of persons affected by military actions, social entrepreneurship in the field of public health, environmental social entrepreneurship. It was concluded that social entrepreneurship combines economic activity with a social mission, which allows: to provide support for vulnerable categories of the population, promoting their social integration and active participation in community life; to act as a platform for the implementation of social innovations, finding new approaches and building effective practices for solving social problems.
